Cardiac Maniac is 2D Multi player (2 player) survival game made for The Global Game Jam 2013 with a team of 5 using the Game Salad engine in 48 hours. Each player player has a different role in the game with different objectives. Player 1 has to collect the pills in order to complete the game and Player 2 has to chase the Player 1 and stay in close contact for 4 sec to eliminate that player to win, which is the objective for player 2.
I was responsible for designing the level, the mechanics and the objectives of the players.
Designing this game was fun and playing it was even more fun. To balance it off, for player , I set the rule for collecting the 4 pills in a given order and also made sure that the pills would not stay in the same spawn point for long. This way Player 2 will get enough time to plan and try to catch Player 1.
To give player 1 and 2 an idea of how close they are to each other I added a faster beating heart so once the player is close to each other the heart will beat faster and for more then 4 seconds the player 2 will win.
